Electric Ambulance.
This is a photo of a Morrison Electric Ambulance used by many factories & hospitals throughout the late 50's, 60's and 70's. This particular model was built in 1972 and the bodywork was undertaken by the 'British Motor Corporation' , Long, Birmingham.
You will no doubt recall these and the smaller types were used at QAH and St Mary's.
St Mary's commissioned their first Morrison Electric in 1973 ('M' Registered). The new vehicle 'brought to an end' the long standing arrangement between the hospital management and Portsmouth Ambulance Service who, up until this time, always provided a vehicle for their use. - Over the years these included J2's and LD's, the last couple being 520 CTP and KRV 101F.
Thanks to Ron Lilly for the photo and information.
