'Portam William' 520 CTP.
Pictured here attending a RTA at Hilsea sometime during the late 1960's.
'William', the Main Station 'Blood Tub' and her sister 'Portam Easy' (521 CTP, Cosham 'Blood Tub') were fitted with a zenith carburettor which produced a real throaty sound when the throttle was opened up. Two-tone horns were fitted and you will notice that William is also fitted with a bell which now resides in a private 'Ambulance Museum'.
The bell from William, made by Winkworth, can be seen in all it's glory in the 'Equpment Album' of this website.
Thanks to Ron Lilly for the picture.
