Don Cook.
Don started life as a mechanic . He was approached by the Medical Officer of Health, when he was an engineer for Hanlon's (the Ambulance manufacturer), to look after Southampton's Ambulances. Later when a new Station was being built he was asked to oversee the project.
When the building was completed he successfully appied for the role of Chief Ambulance Officer and he became Chief Officer for Hampshire and then Dorset. Later he decided to go back to Hanlon's and was asked to run the Hampshire Ambulance workshops.
