MOH Training Course No 1 Autumn 1967.

This is a picture of the first ever training course held at Claylands in the autumn of 1967.

The Ministry of Health Experimental Training Course No1 which together with MOH Courses 2 & 3 led to the permanent introduction of Grade 4 Ambulance Personnel into the service.

Pictured 6th from the left, back row is Dave Partridge and far right, front row is Bob Crory both representing Portsmouth Ambulance Service.

Seated in the centre is Mr G.E. Turner (CAO Hampshire), Mr D.J. Hannah (Deputy CAO Hampshire) together with the instructional team Les Pullinger and Pat Wheeler.

Rear row 7th from the left is Fred Askew (Totton). Centre row 3rd from left is Eddie Phillips (Lymington) and 5th from the left is Tony Kendal (Bournemouth, later Dorset).

Middle Row - 4th from right (wearing glasses) is Eamon (Paddy) Jones, Aldershot. He was the TGW shop steward.

The group was made up of members of all South of England Ambulance Services.
